Question about Taxes from Asset Store income

Hi,

I already contacted Unity support 2 times, still no any sign. So, I’m posting this thread.

I’m asset store publisher since 2014. I don’t have any company currently, and my earnings from asset store is getting noticable nowadays. And I’m little worried about this unregistered income. So, I’ve decided to create my company.

Question is, taxes. Unity takes %30 commission from asset store publishers. Is this part includes taxes as well?

Hire a CPA to do all of your taxes.

In German, i whould say, “great, only 30% tax” But i dont think so. 30% should be just your pay for unity service. And only vat-tax (for me) may be included.
I may be wrong.

Taxes on your earnings need to be paid by you to whatever local tax authority’s jurisdiction you fall under. The amount retained by Unity is the cost of using our service.

I would recommend you contact a tax professional - they will be able to answer in detail any questions you have about asset store profits and taxable income to ensure you are accounting for everything correctly. Laws vary greatly dependent on where you live.

Tax laws vary widely based on country. As a general rule you only pay tax on net income, business related expenses don’t count. However it’s often more complex then that.

TL;DR: Contact a local tax accountant.

What they said but its extremely unlikely you would have to pay taxes on money you never received. Asset Store sales are Unity Techs revenue, the commission paid to you is your revenue.
