Heya,
I have a question about the unity3D ios license as it applies to a team. What I want to know is if we have to buy IOS pro licenses for everyone on the team, or just for a few. As an example, let’s say we have 4 developer’s who all have Unity Pro. Then, let’s say one gets IOS Pro (dev A), and another gets Android Pro (dev B), but the other 2 stay with the basic unity pro (devs C D). If this team is working on the same project, will they be able to function or are they completely messed up?
Naturally, I wouldn’t expect devs C&D to be able to deploy to either the IOS or Android, but I would like them to able to work with the basic app and mostly test pieces of it on their mac, PC, or web. Then, dev A could test it out on an IPod and dev B could test it out on the Zoom.
What’s the scoop?

Its right in the FAQ
Can our company use free/basic and Pro licenses at the same time?
Sorry, such license mixing in the same company is forbidden. You may not, for example, use 9 free Unity licenses for development and a single Unity Pro license to publish the final game. You will need a Pro license for each team member.
what of in the case where it does not use any unity pro features? I would email unity and come to an arrangement with them. I always prefer to ask the source where possible
Potentially it does not matter.
One part of the Pro requirement for example is that you have a yearly turnaround > 100k, which with a 9 person team is basically granted unless you operate within china, india or a similar low low low wage country. In such a case you can not use Free at all in your company anymore.
Heya,
I suppose I was unclear. All developers will own the Unity Pro license. That’s a very reasonable cost and not a problem. The question is, if I am going to build a game that may eventually be deployed on the Android, to IOS, and/or the web/PC/Mac, will EVERY single developer need all of the sub-licenses as well? So, Unity Pro ($1500) + IOS Pro ($1500) + Android Pro ($1500) == $4500 for every single developer on the team, even if they only test the app on their dev boxes?
Is it possible (and legal of course) to setup the project so that all of the developers buy the Unity Pro ($1500), but only 1 or 2 of the developers each buy the additional IOS Pro ($1500) and Android Pro ($1500) add on licenses? Obviously, the guys without Android and IOS would not be able to deploy to IOS, Android, XCode, etc. However, my question is, is it possible to like if-def out the appropriate areas so all the devs can still work together on the project? I want the non-IOS/Android devs to just run the game on their PC or Mac or web or whatever. They won’t need to deploy or test on the tablets themselves. Only the devs with the appropriate IOS/Android license will need to do that.
Is that any clearer?
In another example, if you have 20 devs on a project, all using Unity Pro. Now, assume your company wants to add the ability to deploy the game to IOS. There will be some IOS specific areas, but 99% of the core code and assets, etc are non-IOS related. Further, you are willing to setup project config options so that devs can if-def (or the equiv) areas out. Do all 20 devs still have to get the $1500 IOS Pro add on, even if they never have any intention of working on the IOS features or ever running the IOS version?

PS - I am in no way trying to bypass the Unity Pro purchase. I just want to avoid the extra $3000 per dev add-on when only one of them will probably have a mac and tablet anyway.
No, addon licenses are only required to be bought where needed and they are bound to the pro license for which you buy them
But you will be required to buy the Pro versions of the addon licenses that you get, you can’t buy the non-pro addons in case the yearly turnaround forces you to get Pro.
