Will the features I have access to in Unity Pro still be available once I buy Unity Android Basic? I’m mainly concerned about being able to continue to use radiosity and occlusion calculations - but for Android apps - without having to spend another $1500.
Am I restricted to the Android Pro license now that I have bought the Unity Pro license?
There isn’t any concievable reason why not because beast merely generates a texture, which is applied via any number of shaders, which both pro and indie support.
You are not restricted to buy the Android Pro, but if you don’t buy the pro, you don’t have pro features for the android platform either, which means no GI, no occlusion culling, no stripping, no render textures etc. it will then work for android as what it is, a not-pro license
Unity Pro + Android basic mean you’re able to use occlusion culling while building to web/standalone, but not able to use it for android. You need an Android Pro to use OC for Android.
You get a splash screen as well, but the cost is pretty compelling to put up with longer load times and such. I think if you contact sales you would be able to upgrade from basic to pro at minimal cost as well should it be an issue.
upgrade basic to pro is $1100, does not evene require the support, just enter your Unity Pro + Android Basic license and it will offer it at $1100
so you can upgrade it at any time later too, its not that you need to go straight to pro to use pro in the end or later, you can go there when you want or when the licensing terms ($100k yearly revenue forces your company to use pro only) require it
sorry to bump old thread, but with regards to unity pro and android basic.
will i be able to only maintain one project (lets say for unity pro) and when i switch to android basic platform, the features would simply disable or use fallback code? (could i branch my scripts depending on what platform i am using?)
or will i have to maintain 2 projects of the same game?
