Question about Unity Pro subscription offer

So i sent a support ticket over a week ago and still didnt hear anything back so thought i’d ask the clever fish in here

If i chose to take the offer of a subscription to unity pro, and pay monthly - If i after 2 years decide i dont want to subscribe anymore, will i completely lose my unity pro license, even though i have payed more than the standard unity pro fee in total? shit doesnt make sense =(

To me as a student, i can’t afford a 1500 dollar unity pro license straight up, but the subscription model i would probably be able to afford, except when im done studying i will have paid 1800 dollars over the course of 2 years and still have to keep paying every month? is that correct? in that case, the offer sucks :stuck_out_tongue:

You are correct, no matter how long you’ve been subscribed you will lose Unity Pro when you cancel the subscription. That is the nature of subscriptions, in the end it will cost more than outright buying it but with a far smaller upfront cost. Why do so many people lease cars when they could buy one for much less?

Keep in mind that for as long as you are subscribed you get access to the latest version of Unity, so when Unity 5.0 comes out you would not have to pay upgrade fees.

It’s unfortunate that the minimum agreement is a year, I think it would do far better if you could have shorter subscriptions.

thanks alot for the fast answer! makes sense
