Question concerning my 2.5D project.

I’ve been taking some Unity tutorials and I made a 2.5D game there with a ball that moves left or right. The camera follows it and there are enemy AI in there too trying to bump it off the grid if you go near them.

How would I go about adding a 3D character model as an enemy AI and have him shoot the ball as it passes him by? I’m very new to Unity and appreciate any help.
