Questions about Unity

Hey all,

I am brand new to Unity, recently downloaded the free version and played around with it and I must say it is outstanding, exceeding what I need it for at the very least. I am in the process of producing a 2D Adventure Game in the traditional LucasArts/Sierra style. However, I had to abandon my previous engine due to compatibility issues with mobile devices, thus I stumbled upon Unity. Despite attempting to understand the end-user terminology, I failed miserably and as a result I have a few questions:

  1. If I have a new registered company that has not made over $100,000 USD in a fiscal year and I wanted to release a game commercially on the Android platform, which license would I need to purchase? (For some reason I kept reading the user agreement in a way that implied the free version was freely licensed to companies under the $100,000 target, I get lost in big words xD)
  2. On another note, which resolution/size would be best for the background artwork given that it is aimed toward a PC/Android mobile release?

I sincerely hope that all makes sense.

Regards,
Mark

If you don’t make over $100,000, you don’t need to buy Pro.
However, there is no Unity Android Free; the basic version will be ~$500.

Thanks =) having such limited knowledge about the program I want to be certain, is the Android Pro just a port software after being created in Unity or Unity Pro? or do games need to be created in Unity Android?

There is no Android Basic.

There is only android pro, which is 3000$

Not yet.

A Basic version of Unity for Android will be available at a later date and will follow the same license structure as Unity iOS.
