Ok I am new to Unity3D but I have read on it and noticed it uses nVidia Physx. What I was wondering is does the engine also support Physx Lab Apex Destruction? If not is there info on how to make destructible objects in Unity like smashing boxes, tables, taking chunks off pillars. Nothing uber like full level demolished but “simple” destruction to things. I hope this is in the right section of the forums. Thanks for the help.
A lot of people fake destruction with instantiated parts or pre-cut objects held together till you blow them up. There are a couple mesh cutting and deforming plugins you can get in the asset store though which you can use to blow chunks off of walls and pillars.
Unity does not support PhysX destructable objects nor is APEX supported in any form.
Wow well thank you very much for the speedy reply greatly appreciated
It’s been awhile, any update on Physx Lab PhysX/Apex Destruction. PhysX Lab is a standalone app to create the fracture and physics joints and Unity does use PhysX and it has become opensource so maybe PhysX Lab can be used now and destruction can be implemented.
Bump.
