Hi,
since Cinemachine became a thing we’re using it (in combination with timeline) quite a bit for cutscenes in our game.
Our preferred workflow for short cutscenes that have a lot of shots is to keep duplicating the camera we have (no transposer, no aim, pre-set FoV, …) and then animate it in the same timeline.
- Drag-Drop
However quickly creating new shots (virtual cameras) could be a lot faster since you can’t drag a virtual camera into cm-track. You can drag it to create a new track, but that makes no sense (it adds a cinemachine brain to the camera…)
Now, ideally the user should be able to drag in the virtual-camera-GameObject directly onto the existing CM track in the timeline, and I’d create a shot-clip, assign the camera, and adjust the name of the clip.
Otherwise you have to create the new clip yourself and then open the picker and look through the list to find the vcam yourself; which takes quite a bit longer when you have tons of virtual cameras in the scene from other cutscenes.
- Support for presets
Presets are a little thing where CM seems to have some problems.
Setting a editor preset for a vcam will not keep the noise module setting + its settings
Setting a default preset for a cm-shot-clip will try to keep the vcam (which it shouldn’t) but ignores the blend curves (which it should keep).
Presets would be useful, but if drag-drop were implemented, that would really save a lot of time.
