Hello. There is a problem with importing a quicktime .mov or an .mpg file into my project. Nothing happens when I import a .mov file. When I import a .mpg file, it imports, but i cant add it to a plane as a texture.
I use Unity Pro and Windows XP 64 bit. There is a known problem with Quicktime and XP 64, so I use Quicktime Alternative. I can play .mov files normally as a standalone.
thanks
I correctly installed Quicktime, and now I can open and watch .mov files without any problems.
However, I still can´t use it inside Unity Pro. When I import a .mov file to my project, I can´t add it as a texture to my game object (box or a plane).
Any help is appreciated, thanks
Is it that you can’t add it as a texture (like, you drag it on to an existing material and it won’t assign) or that you can add it but it just doesn’t seem to play? I don’t have a Windows machine handy to test but it’s all working quite well here on my Mac.
mov is known to not really work on Windows.
There are various reports on that.
WMV / AVI /MPEG work and should be far simpler to get exported on windows commonly as well. You don’t lose anything from using them as all of them are recompressed to theora anyway
for .wmv files I can´t even import it to my project. Unity says “invalid file name”. mpeg works OK. I didnt try .avi. mov is very problematic as we all know. thank you all
yep, .avi is also problematic. Unity Pro imports it but doesn´t recognize it as a regular video file, so I can´t use it as a texture.
I cannot even drag and drop my video files. Anybody knows why and what can I do to fix it?
