Racing Battlegrounds - game preview - dev questions taken

Whats up Unity Community!! I’m really happy to announce that my very first game as an indie developer is almost done!!

Myself

First, i present my self… i started programming games at the age of 14 years old. I’m 29 now. I graduated from a developer career. Then, 6+ years ago i joined into my first job in game industry. The roles i occupied in that studio was mainly as developer director, but i’ve been also product owner, project manager, team leader, data analyst, game designer and more…
This time, i’ve made a game on my own, so i had to translate my experience into this title. It took me a lot of effort, time and patience since i did it as a part-time job because most of my time was occupied in other studio.

The Game

Racing Battlegrounds is a racing game made for Mobile (Android, iOS, Amazon) which is focused on grabbing power-ups and fight with opponents (AI atm) to get first in finish line. So the game is aimed to have a lot of action, explosions and speed.
It has 2 main modes, races and destruction. In races you might find laps, elimination mode, timed modes with customizable difficulty and opponent count. Destruction is a mode for pure combat.
All these is mixed in tournaments and quick races. Tournaments consist in a serie of stages in which you will be progressing to form a leaderboard. Depending on your final score, you might get chests which will reward you with lots of items.

Lots of the graphics assets i’m using in the game i got them in the Unity Asset store… there are a lot of really well made packages.

Current stage

Right now the game is still in development, however its almost done. I’m working on monetization details, like showing popups to get coins when you dont have enough, finishing Facebook integration, fixing bugs and testing. When its ready, i’m going to publish it in Google Play to get first results.

Well mainly you can help the game by sharing it in social media so when its released i may get a solid base of users.
Also, you can send feedback on this thread or social media on the things you like and the things you don’t (when its released).

Something i don’t really have much experience is about being a publisher. I took a big decision on trying, however depending on the results i might follow the idea or contact another publisher. What would you recommend?

  • What do you think about publishing, promoting or dealing with 3rd party publishers?
  • What do you think on promoting the app and getting users?
  • What do you think about the video, icon and images? (available in Facebook page atm).

If you are asking about how the AI works in this game… this is the magic! A single spline that follows the path of the track. The spline indicates every car when it should turn and the math about taking the brake, the angle of the steering, the speed of the curve… all its calculated in the AI component.

Awesome Work On The Game It Looks Really Interesting And I Would Definitely Download It

If you are looking for a marketing budget some good options might be:
1.Patreon
2:Kickstarter

These platforms will allow users to fund your game and will also be a great way to kinda show off your game.
The UI on the top right that displays the lap and position could be made a little bit more cartoonish to fit the overall style.
The intro of the video is a little bit laggy so that can probably be fixed.

About the UI display i could try making a better container. Now its just Unity’s standard panel graphics, really simple.
