Ragdoll with one model

Hi,

My new iPhone project has ragdolls. I created a character in Cinema4D and assigned bones to that character using polygon selections and so on. How can I create a Ragdoll in Unity from that character? It doesn’t have to be too complex and I’ve seen the ‘ragdoll wizard’ already, but then you’ve to assign every single body part of the ragdoll to the wizard, which I can’t as my Bone-Character is one single model (with bones).
How can I create a ragdoll from this character anyway? I can’t imagine you have to split your character in single objecs in unity for creating a ragdoll, as realistic ragdolls wouldn’t be possible, because no polygons would be stretched then.

Look at this Unity Web Ragdoll app: http://www.kinelco.com/unity/Ragdoll.html
The arms and elbows and knees and legs aren’t single objects, are they? But it’s a Unity app!

Thank you very much in advance. If my question isn’t clear, don’t hesitate to post what you don’t understand.[/url]

The things the Ragdoll Wizard wants are not separate meshes, you’re supposed to drag the different bones to the slots. It then creates collision capsules around the bones and adds rigid bodies and joints.

Hi niosop,

But I can’t access the bones in Unity, too! I created a Cinema 4D-Model and put bones in it, exactly the way you have to to it in C4D afaik. Then I exported the file as a .fbx in the unity assets folder.
The fbx, however, just contains one model, without bones! The model is one object with a mesh renderer, mesh filter and material assigned to it.

Obviously, the bones aren’t exported from Cinema4D to fbx. How can I achieve that?

Thanks very much!

Sorry, can’t help you w/ C4D, I’m a Blender guy myself.
