OK, here I am with a fresh skeleton that I’m eager to try out. I want to make a ragdoll with it, so I opens up the Ragdoll Wizard. I’m assigning bones and then I run into one stumbling block: Left Knee. OK, in the terms of joints, this is no problem. But I’m working with whole bones here. I don’t know if I should assign the upper leg bone or the shin bone. I’m also not quite sure where “Middle Spine” is supposed to be: Above or below the Root bone? Thanks.
The term “knee” refers to your lower leg, or shin bone as you put it. When in doubt, the name is probably always referring to the source at which it bends, not the length of the bone.
I’m not sure what you mean by ‘above or below the root bone’, as the only thing below the root should be legs. Generally speaking, your root is your pelvis.

So what is middle spine? Does the spine need to be built out of three bones, so there are 3 bones: top, bottom, and middle bones? Should it be a single bone?
