Random editor crashes since upgrading to Unity 5

Hi everyone,

A few weeks back I upgraded from Unity 4.6 to Unity 5, and since then I have been experiencing very frequent editor crashes (every 5-10 minutes). I can’t seem to find any cause for them, sometimes they happen when I’m clicking a UI element, sometimes when I’m editing the scene, but more often than not Unity just crashes while it’s idling in the background and I’m working on something completely different. My crash log is attached, hopefully someone can make sense of it.

What I’ve already tried:
Reinstalling Unity (twice, once after removing both my 5 and 4.6 which I still had installed) and updating my GFX drivers.

My specs:

  • Windows 7 Home Premium (x64)
  • Intel Core i5-2500K (3.3GHz)
  • Nvidia GeForce GTX570
  • 8Gb RAM

I realize this is probably frowned upon, but I’ll try a bump regardless because I’m kinda stuck. I can’t really use Unity anymore since upgrading to 5.

I’m going to allow myself two more bumps before I let this die. Has no one else experienced random crashes since upgrading to Unity 5?

I am having the same issue. I tried installing Unity 5 twice, the second time after removing an older version. I noticed this line in the log’s stack trace:
0x0000000140C7E8E6 (Unity) UnityConnectUserInfoRequest::OnSuccess

That matches your trace, so on a whim I decided to try unlinking my editor from my Unity account. I opened my project and signed out of the account; it’s been idling for over an hour and still running!

My Specs

  • Windows 7 Upgraded to Windows 10 Home (x64)
  • Intel Core i7-2670QM (2.2 GHz)
  • AMD Radeon HD 6700M Series
  • 8GB RAM

Thanks for the reply! I can’t confirm with certainty yet, because I haven’t had the editor open for a very extended length of time since reading your answer, but it hasn’t crashed anymore since I logged out.

So we may be on to something here. Has anyone else experienced crashes when logged into their Unity accounts?
