Re: Back to the future

I am an old Mac user but have been working on Wintel systems for the last years and lost contact with Apple technology. I have been programming some 3D engines on Wintel platforms but recently discovered Unity and would like to go back to Apple for game development.

What do you consider as important features for an Apple platform when working with Unity?

Any new Mac is just fine. You want RAM and a good graphics card (although I’ve used Unity with the integrated graphics cards and they work just fine – you just don’t get all the spiffy options).

I’d say that the ideal “budget” option is an iMac, and the ideal option is a MacBook Pro or Mac Pro (depending on whether you value grunt or portability).

Unity compiles nearly instantly on every platform I’ve used.
