RE:How to prepare a budget for a mobile game production

Hey all I want to prepare a budget for the production for our indie game. Does anybody have a good template for it or on how do I go about it?Our team is spread across the world and most of them are freelancers.I really need help as it is really important.This budget serve as a forecast to show how much we have spent so far and to show the future expenses.If any one can help us we would really appreciate it.

Number of workers * hourly pay * (estimated duration * 4) + marketing budget - personal investment + software cost = cost

That is a good way to get your estimated budget.

And to complete the “estimated duration” part you will need to list all things you need by field such as :

  • Game Design (research + production)
  • 2D concept (research + production)
  • if 3D game >> 3D assets (mainly production)
  • Music (effects + Music + voices)
  • Programming (mainly production)

Could be a good start.

The worst is if you do not know any of those specialties you will need a skilled Lead to first guide you.

I usually add x2 on my estimations, because the client aaaaaaalways wants to change things without affecting the release date (of course…)

I actually would have gone x5 :slight_smile:

Of course, in my case x2 is the minimum I consider for any project/job, and usually I go with that x4, which usually scares people, “a temple run polished in X months you’re outta mind” LOL
