I developed a bubble wrap simulator. With different styles and appearances!

I tried to take care of as many details as possible.

  • They are not static images or replacing 3D models. Every touch should realistically morphs the bubble. Even the popped bubbles and for the half side ones are interactive.
  • The sound should come from where it is morphing. (Although the sound direction won’t be distinguishable especially when the camera listener is almost equally close to them. I want all these details from the start. Who knows where and what it may be in future. And it’s a technical reference/experience for future projects.)
  • The sheet sways when the phone is tilted or when you blow air to the phone.
  • You can use preset 360 image or camera view as the background.
  • Haptic feedback: Increasing the intensity of vibration while moving into the center of a bubble.
  • Instant burst: You can enable this if you want to burst bubbles more easily and quickly rather than realistically but slowly.

Timelapse records of making the app. Including 3D modeling, designing, coding and sound designing.

There’s a Earth Day celebration recently: Opening the app between Apr 22nd(The Day) to 29th will unlock a grass look.

There’s also a secret look that can be unlocked in a secret way… I wonder if anyone can find it without decompiling the app. :slight_smile:

Thank you! I did not track the time. I didn’t capture timelapses throughout the entire process. But it took around 3 months, not everyday though.

The idea was just to create a bubble wrap simulator with more attentions to details. In fact, there’s still room for improvement and I can put in more time. I had to stop when I feel it was good enough and move on to something else for a while.
