Recommend Windows Screenrecorder Program for Unity

I want to make a guide video for an asset, and the screen recorder i am using is very slow.

Can you please recommend a program that is easy and doesnt slow the framerate completely in the player? camstudio is ok although the frames are 15fps.

Thanks!

Have you tried using fraps? If not, you can try the free version and see if you like it, and if you don't just uninstall and no harm done. Problem is, you'll need to pay for it if you want to make videos longer than 30 seconds.

It would help if you told us your OS... [FRAPS won't work with Windows 8][1], for example. You could try [HyperCam2][2]. [1]: https://frapsforum.com/threads/cant-take-image-or-video-of-desktop-in-windows-8.2823/ [2]: http://www.hyperionics.com/hc/

I believe the issue with fraps on Windows 8 is the inability to record the desktop, it should be able to record Unity windows. But, I can't confirm that so @tanoshimi makes a good point and made a good suggestion with HyperCam 2, which is compatible with Windows 8. Still wouldn't hurt to try the free version of fraps to see if it works (assuming you have Windows 8).

Well, I've never been able to get FRAPS to record the Unity application window or other Win8 desktop applications, so if you get it to work please post back here! It will record the "game" window alone (sometimes), and it will capture published games running under Win8 fine, but that's not much use for asset guide videos.

I think that fraps cant record the unity window, just the play area because it records straight from graphics card and not from windows?

Have you tried Bandicam? If you have an nvidia card you can use its cuda-enabled encoder which means it shouldn’t impact your frame rate too much.
