Recommendation for animals?

I am looking for all kinds of animal for a zoo like game.
I have purchased Schmidt Bros animals but they are bad badly designed, incorrectly scaled and not update.
Does anybody have any experience with 3DRt animals?
I don’t want to purchase these assets without knowing if they support PBR and have root motion.
Does anybody know more?

Does root motion work for anything else than humanoid rig? I thought it was just working in humanoid mode and not generic. Most animals don’t have a Humanoid skeleton. Would love to know if root motion can be used in generic mode.
Anyways, I don’t think there are any publishers out there who had created animals having animations with root motion.

Too bad you missed PROTOFACTOR summer sale. Animals full pack was at 50% off. Still, at full price you can have 24 animals for only $125. Though none of them have root motion.

I think yes.

And this negates the OP needing root motion in the asset as long as setting a couple keys/curves after purchase is an alright workflow.
hope this helps.

I guess he doesn’t want to mess around with that and have the root motion already embedded in the animation.
To me the question still remains. Root motion in generic mode for non humanoid rig, can it be done? Would love to know for my future creations. So that I can support legacy system and mecanim.

Of course root-motion can be used for Generic as well.
It is easy:

Good to know.

If you are looking for quality animals for your game, you can´t go wrong with the guy posting in this thread, even if the 50% sale is over. Protofactor puts up great stuff. Another really great pack… there is a ´dog pack´ that is like $60 for about 12 different dog breeds… if you search for dogs you should find it easy enough.

Unfortunately the 4toon animals are too cartoonish for me.

The 3DRT animals are super, but only some of them include root motion. I had to ask the publisher directly to create it.
I know the boar has root motion and birds & critters, but the domestic animals and hare and fox currently don’t, I think.
I tried to fix it myself, but some models have weird bone structures, so I could not easily fix it myself because I am not experienced at animations.
