Recommended editor version for Oculus Quest

We’re doing a five-year research study using the Oculus Quest and Quest 2. When we started a couple years ago, the recommended Unity version was specifically 2019.1.2f1. That’s what we used, and that’s what we’re currently using, and so far it’s working well.

When we started, though, we knew that, given that it’s a five-year project, we would probably need to upgrade sooner or later - possibly multiple times. With Autodesk pulling licenses for older versions of Maya, we’ve been forced to upgrade that, and so we want to stay ahead of the curve.

Oculus only says 2019.4 or newer - they don’t give an optimal version any more. I’m assuming that we should steer clear of betas and such, but is there a maximum recommended version for the Quest and Quest 2?

Also, what advice can anyone give on upgrading aside from the upgrade guides? We have hundreds (thousands?) of 3d assets, audio files, textures, and other assets, and we have UMA 2.8.1 integrated into the project along with LipSync Pro (which isn’t actually being updated any more). As far as LSP is concerned, we have one or two (fairly important) scenes that need it, but moving forward to new content, we’re using Faceware motion capture for facial animation. We could probably refit the old content with mocapped facial animation, but that would involve having the old voice actors come back.

Anyone have any information on this at all?
