example of the work in the unity
What?
He’s probably talking about the Red Dwarf multiplayer server that was once called Darkstar. Why he’s doing so, I have no idea.
Well its an open source MMO server probally trying to save himself some cash…
I dont know of any examples of it being used with a unity game… tho saying that i just popped onto their forums and it does look like someone has compiled a c# version for unity… So I would say head over to their forums…
I will also be attempting to use this codebase (reddwarf server / project darkstar) as a server for my unity projects
UPDATE: Proland, my dream engine, has finally been released into Open Source. Much more work to add all the cool Unity features to it, but faster and less work than adding gorgeous planet rendering to Unity.
Still investigating but if I wasn’t doing that scope Unity and reddwarf would have went together well.
currently moving forward with various elements of the game/engine and i believe it will be so long before i have to worry about the view of a full sized virtual planet earth with the curvature of space… that im not sure exactly which code snippets will be used… i do believe that the work of proland should not be ignored, but it remains to be seen exactly w how the views will be implemented in the virtual world have under construction…
as far as server… i love the idea of reddwarf… SO MUCH… but there isnt anything in it i think that the technology from muchdifferent cant realistically provide for me in a way totally seamless with unity itself
