If i want to work under a name, like Blacklight Media, or anything for that matter, do i have to register it or anything? or can I just use it? Just looking for thoughts and advice. Thanks.
Usually you do, but it depends on where you live. In Missouri, you can register a “fictitious name” (dba - doing business as) online for $7.

Startout registering Blacklight Media on a blog or free web-service. If you wish to pay a buck or two, there are many web-providers giving an awesome price to your site. If you really have money to spend, register BlackLight Media as a business company. Then it is guaranteed noone will take your beloved name from you. 
Yeap and you can’t just have names like blah blah studios if you don’t own one. 
But i think if it’s a hobby game, wouldn’t really need one right?
