[REGRESSION] drag and drop to project view is laggy and sometimes misses the release event

on mac only, it’s been happening since 5.4, still not fixed.
To give you guys perspective, this makes 4.7 feel much more responsive.

Could we get a bug report please? If you already filed one, posting the case # would suffice.
