Hi, I am using Unity IAP and therefore also need Unity Analytics on my game. Now I uploaded an update to a game released in November and got rejected for the following reason:
For Kids category apps, developers may not use analytics software to collect and send device data to third parties.
Unity being the only third party. It is a children’s game with IAP for extra content. Now, I don’t need Unity Analytics in this game and would like to turn it off but cannot because it’s required by Unity IAP.
Edit: Talking about AppStore of course.
@mikatu ,
I’m sorry to hear your app was rejected. Unity Analytics is a technical requirement of Unity IAP.
Looking at the App Store Review Guidelines, there doesn’t seem to be any specific limitation on using analytics software:
https://developer.apple.com/app-store/review/guidelines/#kids-category
https://developer.apple.com/app-store/review/guidelines/#kids
They do mention that a privacy policy is required when collecting data: (Section 5.1.4)
Moreover, apps in the Kids Category or those that collect, transmit, or have the capability to share personal information (e.g. name, address, email, location, photos, videos, drawings, the ability to chat, other personal data, or persistent identifiers used in combination with any of the above) from a minor must include a privacy policy and must comply with all applicable children’s privacy statutes.
Usage of analytics with children-directed games is an acceptable use case under FTC / COPPA guidelines:
https://www.ftc.gov/tips-advice/business-center/guidance/complying-coppa-frequently-asked-questions
Unity Analytics supports internal operations of gaming services, websites, apps, and games. Further along in the FTC FAQ , the FAQ does seem to provide additional information related to how COPPA may apply to using a service like Unity Analytics and collecting “personal information” like IP address and device identifier.
In particular, I would check out sections C.6 and I.5-8 that provide more information around what “support for the internal operations of the Web site or online services” means and the resulting implications for your app.
As always, when discussing COPPA compliance and privacy policies, we recommend you discuss this with your personal legal counsel.

Their reason for the rejection seems quite clear, so I don’t think you can use Unity Analytics or IAP in children’s game for the time being. May have to start looking for alternatives but please, do let me know if you have any ideas or updates on the matter.

@mikatu Were you able to resolve this issue? I am facing a similar issue with App Store Rejection.
Hey guys, did someone resolve the problem? I got rejected too for using UnityIAP in my kids app. What to do?

I have tested every code posted on the forum and my app keeps being rejected
We are continuing to investigate and are discussing with our sources at Apple, hopefully we will have a resolution soon.
