Hey, after long hiatus i’m back with more icons. If you don’t know me i’m author of Fantasy Icon Pack 1,2,3 and 4.
Why i choose new name for new pack? Because i felt the art direction changed since i last made icons, some may like my older ones better, but i feel more comfortable with the new style, feels more like painting/drawing that making “vector” style art. Oh and i’m sorry that i can’t provide PSD layers this time, it is too much hassle to me to clean all layers etc, but it still should be possible to change colors etc.
Thanks everyone who has bought my earlier packs, without you i wouldn’t have made this new one… Oh and more is coming, so look out for Fantasy RPG Icon Pack 2, tho it can took somewhile. I’m also considering to up the resolution on pack 2 to 200x200 pixels, not sure yet… If it’s worth extra effort.
Looks great … will be buying shortly. I would love more spell icons … especially summoning different creature types. Also, some updated fantasy portrait icons would be amazing … for both good heroes and evil enemies / creatures.
Oh yes! That’s actually have been in my to-do list long time! I actually may reconsider to do that after Fantasy RPG Icon Pack 2. I actually have some sci-fi icons made already, but gonna redo them because it’s long time since i have made those and not up my current standards.
Actually would it be bad idea to re-use some fantasy spell icons to sci-fi pack? Like all lightning this etc could be very much usable to sci-fi themed game and i don’t think anyone wanna buy these fantasy icon packs just for few sci-fi fittable icons.
It’s good to hear there is actually demand for sci-fi themed icons!
Thanks! More summoning stuff coming for Pack 2. Oh and about portraits, have crossed few times in my mind… Actually my old pack 3 includes some portraits, but going to make new ones with new style. Atleast portraits are going to be bigger resolution than 120x120.
I think in the case of lightning it would probably be fine. But for example if a Stone Axe icon pops up in a Sci-Fi game that would look rather out of place… Star Craft icons are good but they all appear to be the same color. I find that the icons from mobile/browser “Star Legends” are quite good, maybe they maybe of some inspiration.
There is definitely demand I think, I for one would make hesitations in purchasing if you made a Sci-Fi pack.
Gonna check out Star Legends, thanks for tip! Most of my new Fantasy RPG icons inspiration has come from real Medieval stuff and playing various RPG games, i only make icons that i would myself love to see in game.
For Sci-Fi icons i can’t rely on real stuff so i need inspiration from movies/games for those. Last Sci-Fi RPG i played was Hellgate: London, which i thought was great game, even tho almost no one liked that game.
… And about PayPal problems, seems like Rajmahal is not alone with that problem.
Tried again today and still the same problem with Paypal in the Unity store. So instead I just used a credit card. The icons are great … I will immediately purchase more if they relate to spell effects and summoned creatures and portraits (or just images of warriors, wizards, creatures, etc.). I’m not really interested in icons of equipment as there are many of those already in the store.
Hey! Thanks for purchase! I’m sorry you found equipment icons useless, because i think all incoming packages are going to be mixed packs like first one including both equipment and skill icons. Still you can use some skill icons as equipment icons and visa versa. I haven’t decided yet if i do small side pack which includes few character portrait or include them in future Fantasy RPG icon packs… Ofcourse if i decide to put them own package the price will be much lower because i’m not that good and fast to draw portraits.
Fantasy RPG Icon Pack v1.01 is now out! It should now work with Unity v3.5+ rather than Unity 4.1… Please report if problem still persist (can’t buy/use with unity 3.5).
If you guys have any suggestions for Pack 2 i would gladly hear them… And i feel it’s best to make separate pack for RPG character portraits.
This is a very nice collection (I could use a lot of these in a project), but like others I also feel it’s a strange size. I’d buy 256x256 in a heartbeat
Edit: I see there’s a second pack which has some overlap in functionality, but with larger icons. 200x200 might do, but still would prefer 256!
You could resize these icons to 128x128 without really any noticeable quality in pictures. But if you are using these as icons for game, like in most MMORPG have, you really only need them in size like 64x64 and then you are not going to lose any quality.
I understand that 256x256 would be awesome, but that is lots and lots of extra workload for me and probably at that point i’m going to double the price of my packs. Already i feel like selling these too low.
When i get my real life projects done, maybe i can get back to my “old” icons and remake them as 256x256.
I dont see why are you guys making big deal out of it its 200x200 just scale them down to 128x128 in photoshop perfectly, then export them and you can perfectly use them in any kind.
I don’t see why some people find it problematic that others like big icons
Yes, these will work very well for small icons around typical current resolutions. But I urge the author to also make a HD pack at some point in time. I’d recommend making all the packs he already planned to make, then go nuts with a big bundle collecting higher resolution versions of all the previous packs. I’m sure a HD megabundle of icons would sell alright. I’m likely to scale down as low as 40x40, but a big 150x150 image next to spells in a built-in guide would be nice.
Anyway, all the packs look tempting, so I’m trying to decide which ones to buy first
Why would i want to take each of these icons 1 by 1, and scale them individually, as well as have that done by every other owner, while the asset maker could do it on their end once?
