Release date for App Store

Hey guys I am close to finishing my first game, it will be on PC/Mac and Ipad/App Store. I am sending it to a lot of PC/Mac distributors and also the app store, while trying to get ready to start my marketing campaign. My question is, how does Apple assign your release date? How can I get the same release date for all three platforms? Does Apple allow you to set your own date? Thanks.

Yes, you can decide the release date but it’s not that you choose the exact day you want. You can choose either you want your app “automatically approved and available on the app store” or you can choose that you make it live manually after they approve it.

One thing I’ve never understood and never tested: will it appear in “new” if you make it live manually?

So if you choose to make it live manually, how quickly does it actually go live? Immediately or does it take time? Thanks

I built an app for a company recently and it didn’t seem to go into the new releases when we chose to release it manually. I think the reason why was because we specified the date for release but then due to problems with approval we passed this date and when it was finally approved it automatically went live because the release date was still set to a few weeks earlier. So then we pulled it from the app store to release later and coordinate with marketing and it didnt go into the new releases list because it had already been there the first time. So be careful!

So do you think if I chose to make it live manually and stick to the date that it will go into the new release section? And can I wait until it is approved to set a date? Thanks
