[RELEASED] Alpha Mask and Stamp Creator

Alpha Mask and Stamp Creator got released to the Asset Store and has a -50% release discount! About the price: It was free before on GitHub, but supporting assets in my spare time takes its toll. So I decided to move to the Asset Store. The minimum of 15$ is required by the Unity Asset Store to be allowed to offer a release discount. In order to be allowed in future sales, an asset must have a price of 20$. So the price will go up to 20$ after the release discount period. That being said, I intend to keep it cheap, but there are limits within Unity. Just get it in sales :slight_smile:

Description

With Alpha Mask and Stamp Creator you can use Unity to create alpha masks and terrain stamps for stamping directly within Unity.

The alpha masks you create can then be used in Unity, e. g. in shaders, vfx graph, etc and also in external apps like Substance Painter and others.

A usage scenario is e. g. to add a dragon to the scene, create an alpha mask from it and project it on the model of a shield within Substance Painter like shown in the example screenshot.

Or you may as well want to create a skull island. Project the skull mesh on a stamp texture, create a brush from it and stamp it on a terrain.

The created alpha masks pretty much depend on your settings of the camera.

Do you plan to make an update to work directly in HDRP? You gave me a test of this asset in the past and I would like to buy it, but in the time that I have been testing it, I have realized that it becomes too tedious to use it because we only work in HDRP

It becomes very tedious to have to work with another Built-in project to capture shapes and pass them to the HDRP project.

On the other hand, this is not the worst… The most serious problem that I see is that if I want to capture a shape of a terrain created in an HDRP project, it is immensely laborious to replicate it in another built-in project, if it has trees or placed objects, to keep it the same… apart from all the extra time in replicating it.

Is there a way to make the asset work in HDRP so that the workflow is better???

I use this asset myself in a dedicated instance of Unity. Just like it were a different app, to have it separated from my project for one and to have it multi-usable for other projects. So built-in is just fine. I may support HDRP and URP in the future, but currently I’m focusing on new stuff :slight_smile:
