Today we’re introducing a Customizable Metal Substance for Unity.
It’s simple, yet powerfull substance with various tweaks, settings and inputs.
Substance has been published with Unity 5.0.2 to support wide range of engine versions.

It’s main features are:
- Creation of various metal materials such as: iron, chrome, copper, gold, painted metal, etc.
- Tweaking the look of the material by adjusting several parameters such as rust, dirt, scratches.
- Custom normal maps: Input your own normal maps which will take procces in creating mentioned parameters.
- Custom images: select and attach several images that can serve as decals, fully adjustable with rotation, scale and position.
Known issues / workarounds:

When inputting normal map into substance, normal map has to be flagged as texture in Unity, otherwise results will be incorrect.

When inputing a decal with uneven size the sizes in substance have to be set according to image ratio. (Ex. when inputing image with 1024x512 size it has to be set with 2:1 ratio: ex. 50:25, 20:10 etc. in substance parameter to maintain correct aspect)

In older versions of Unity the substance procedural parameters group and their inputs are placed incorrectly.

Oxidation effects exist only for metals that rust, other effects are planned for next release.
