[RELEASED] Duck Goose - Free on Android - Arcadey Duck Game

God knows why I put time into this game.

DUCK GOOSE

The Game
Anyway, here is “Duck Goose” in all of it’s glory. A free, very easy to learn arcade game, starting on the Android platform and maybe journeying onto iOS at some point. Play as a Duck on a farm, defending your nest of eggs from geese who explode on contact with the eggs.

The Community Voting system
A main selling point, at least to the Unity crowd is a little experiment I’m trying with Unity Ads. As the game was a very quick project, with the intention to add to and expand it gradually, there was never any design in place for in-game currency. Therefore to (hopefully) create a dedicated and supportive community from the time of release, I have created a system for the player to vote for future features and updates.

A few notes on the voting system:

  • Player gets to vote once after every round (Rounds can last from 5 seconds to ~2 minutes)
  • They are presented with 2 choices, each with the number of votes required for it to make it into the game and a progress bar to show how close it is to getting made. The features are predefined by me on a Google Spreadsheet online but open to community suggestions.
  • By voting they agree to watch a 30 second Unity Ad (clearly mentioned on the voting page). This allows the audience to dictate which features I work on for future updates, while also (hopefully) producing some form of income so I can continue working on it.
  • Players are free to completely skip voting if they don’t want to do it.

I’m aiming for players to really take part in development and I hope this enables them to do it in a fair and easy way that benefits everyone.

The voting system is currently the only income method in the game but I’m also considering letting players buy extra characters. Selling Merchandise for the game through Amazon Merch is also a thought at the moment.

Hope this method appeals to some people, let me know what you think!

Misc
Google Sheets for Unity is what I’m using to track and display the voting system, also to gather beta feedback and display real-time news updates on the Main Menu. Very powerful once you get to grips with it’s code.
