[RELEASED] GameDraw FREE Edition - Create and modify assets in Unity

Hello Everyone,

I’am happy that today we have released our FREE edition of GameDraw to the Asset Store and I would love to get your inputs and feedback on it as we continue with our best efforts to make it ‘the tool’ used to create assets in Unity and hopefully beyond that  so if you don’t have it already grab it and enjoy creating assets in Unity

I already purchased GameDraw and it’s very much worth every penny. I’m just curious, tho, what is the difference between the versions?

There is a lot of differences, you can check them here

What about source access? Some of these handy mesh functions could be used beyond the editor itself, at runtime.

We are still thinking about it

Is this tool work for unity 3.5???

Yes it does work for both 3.5 and 4 , let me know ur input on it once u try it out

Dear when i try to open ur demo scene in my unity 3.5.2, it says the project is incompatible with this version…:frowning:

There is no demo scene with the package, if you are talking about the package itself then it is compatible 3.5.7 and higher so you might want to update your 3.5 version

I purchased GameDraw but it would have been enough for me with the free version…
:frowning:

Ah you posting this Baha just reminded me of something I’ve been meaning to ask you!

The only thing missing for me, that if added would guarantee a purchase, is vertex color editing. Right now I have to do it all in 3DSMax, and the tools therein are rather tedious.

My dream tool for vertex coloring would be:

  • Vertex Color by Vertex or Face
  • Vertex Color Layers - Max has this, and while not completely necessary, it helps immensely in adding one color to tone an entire model that already has base vertex colors
  • Select Faces by Color - Being able to “eye-dropper” pick a color and then immediately have all the faces with that same color be auto-selected. This would make for quick color changes to a detailed models ‘set of polys’ WAY faster than the miserable single face per click selection in Max
  • Detach Faces by Color - Essentially having the option to make an element out of a group of polys of an object that share the same color. Unity simply does not render vertex color per face as I create them in Max (they always blend when I want hard edges), so I need to actually make each unique color on a model a separate element of the object; those boundary vertices between colors are not welded. It’s still a single object, but it is made up of several elements (using 3DSMax’s editable poly language)

Let me know if this is at all doable and something you’d agree to add, and you got yourself another customer!

Also I’m not suggesting at all this be in the Free Edition, I’m just posting this here since the thread is new and highly visible. I certainly want to pay for a feature like this.

Thanks Baha!

-Steve

I understand you in full… but I hope they improve soon the payed version with better features and absolutely with the promised API!

I will be posting a list of reasons why the Free version is great for the users of GameDraw plus there is a lot of features in the full version that does not exist in the Free one.

I will put it on the roadmap

Version 1 have been delayed for multiple reasons but this only means that it will be a greater one! as I mentioned to Angle I will explain the value of the Free version to GameDraw users in blog post plus the full version of GameDraw already have a lot of features than the Free version in every aspect whether it is editing and creation, UVs or optimizatin as well as the asset warehouse.

This is an amazing tool, thank you baha for releasing a free edition

your welcome, can you spread the word and your review on the asset store will be a great help

Folks,

The following blog post shows why GameDraw Free edition is great for GameDraw Pro users

Hey Guys,

Today and despite being a developer with no artistic background :frowning: I managed to do this scene completely from ground up with GameDraw, all of it from modeling, texturing, optimization to lightmaps for that I feel happy about it  check it out and let me know your opinion  and would you love to see it as a tutorial from the beginning to end also would you tell that this was done with GameDraw if I didn’t say so?

More 3D models are getting done with GameDraw, the quality is getting higher check this one
