The package now features total of 79 meshes, here is a full list of content:
10 tileable terrain textures ranging from 512 to 1024 resolution with specular map stored in alpha channel
13 tree models: 8 pine trees and 2 deciduous, 3 birch trees; ranging from 400 to 1100 polygons
13 terrain detail meshes like grass, bushes and flowers with vertex alpha for proper wind support
53 prop models such as mushrooms, rocks, fences, water plants, tent, campfire, bridge, waterfalls
2 particle effects: water splash and fire
ready to go prefabs with configured collisions and lighting settings where necessary
Additionally the new trees should have less negative performance impact as bark and branches use the same texture and material, on the screenshot below there is over a hundred of trees:
Hand painted Forest Environment has just received Autumn Update! It includes autumn variations of vegatation and few extras such as falling leaves particles and leaf-covered terrain textures. And most importantly for free!
I know this is almost two months old and you only have one post, but just in case anyone else picks up this package and wants to place the trees on a terrain.
Currently the trees are a gameobject consisting of two gameobject meshes (wood and the leaves). You need to combine the meshes (your own script of a third party asset. I used Simple Mesh Combiner.) and set the shader to one of the Nature shaders. Unity documentation says these trees need to be placed in a special folder called Ambient-Occlusion.
Once you’ve done all that, you can add them to a Unity Terrain as a Tree object for painting and wind.
Apologies for not answering in this topic, I have answered to Baolocdo in an email, but I should’ve posted here as well.
Terrain-compatible trees will be added very soon, but in the meantime you can do what Acissathar proposed, or instead of using scripts you can merge meshes in Blender (source .fbx files are included in Meshes/Source folder) and export the model to Ambient-occlusion folder.
We’d like to make sure Landscape Builder is compatible with your product - it looks so good. We could provide an automated solution for your trees in with the mesh placement feature of LB if that helps.
Winter is coming to Hand Painted Forest pack in a free update! Along new content there are improvements over older as well, including improved textures for many meshes. Store link: http://u3d.as/cMy
did anyone use this pack for a vr game yet? Im looking for a asset pack for a htc vive game and was wondering if this pack looks good in vr? Are you using the standard shader or custom shaders?
Do you have any licence rules- for example, can this asset be used for commercial use or only personal. If it can be used for commercial, what requirements do you have for those who do use it for that reason?
