Kairos allows you to schedule effects and do seamless transitions between global effects.

Kairos can manage different skyboxes and day night cycle, also it can manage the different weather and ambiences with just 3 lines of script code.

Kairos can be used for any type of game, 2d, 3d, top down, shooter, RPG, FPS, Moba, and any game you imagine. Just call Kairos to start a new effect, change global illumination, and adjust the skybox for you.

This looks very interesting. Looking forward to an actual demo where we can walk around and see how it looks and the framerate. Videos are not the best way. I need a weather system!

Is it mobile optimized?

It allows you to use any shuriken particle, so if you setup a particle system for mobile it should be ok to use. I’ll release a mobile demo soon.

Can i integrate your system with Time of day? And how easy is it (hopefully ;)) ?

well I’ll have to look at that Asset, as i don’t own it, but I’ll implement time of day control with the plugin. Basically you’ll only have to tell it the time it is and it will react accordingly.

For next update I’ll do:

  • 2D samples.
  • Extra effects and particles.
  • Mobile & PC demo.
  • Time of day control → more advanced than now.

Also I’m collecting feedback from actual customers and plan to give them some extra functionality.

Hello, I remember answering you, but maybe it was lost. I told you in this email that I was working in a new system. Right now, the thing is that you can just configure a setup for night and a setup for day, but I’m working in a full time of day management system. but is taking me more time than expected as I’ve got other assets to update as they’re not working with new unity / dependencies updates etc. So after I fix all that, I’m going to overhaul the Kairos system.

Well, basically, you can do it, just configure one environment for night and one environment for day, and switch between them, or just configure X environments night morning midday afternoon evening and just make sure you put automatic transition from one to the other, and then place the time you want each one to have, that way the system will cycle between them.

If that’s what you need. (that was what I called day/night cycle).

What I’m working right now is a system to just give you the time of the day and several other functions that will help you track time.

Hello, I’m working on a multiplayer game and I’m curious about the weather synchronization for multiplayer games over a network.
There will be (or there are, I’ve not purchased the asset yet) API to allow multiple players to live in the same simulated environment ? There is a way to manage server side the localization of a particular weather condition or (for example) the lightning’s position and timing to avoid breaking the game immersion ? I’m posting this question on some threads because is a requirement to select the asset to purchase.

Hello, I know it has been long time of radio silence. I’m finally working hard to get the new version of the asset out in next days, here’s the new Day/Night cycle working with allsky skyboxes, and gaia generated terrain.

Few days of work remaining in order to setup 2D samples and better manual / instructions, also I’m working on rehauling the entire interface of the asset to give more flexibility and options for you.

I’ve updated Kairos Weather & Day/Night cycle system to a new version. I’ve been very busy working in other things but in between time I’ve kept working in the Kairos update.

I’ve added several nice features like a Time of day scheduler, this system will allow you to schedule weather situations for a specific time of the day. For instance if you want mornings to have a nice early day fog you can do it, or if you want to place several random mornings setups you can place them and the system will choose.

Also the game time system can be scaled to make time pass faster or slowly, so if you want for instance that 1 hour in the game is 0.1 hours in the real world you can do it just setting up a variable.

I’ve removed the animation state machine scripts too and updated the system manager prefab. Now everything is splitted in different systems that interact between them. like the Light system that changes world’s light & fog. The sky system that changes skybox textures to make seamless transitions of the textured skyboxes. and the Weather Manager that spawns partiles & effects and seamlessly stops / plays them.

I’ve Included also a simple Skybox Generator.

This easy to use tool will allow you to get a large image and generate an skybox from it, then you can use that skybox for your weather system / day night setup.

This unity package still needs more features I’m in the workings but I think that this new update improves a lot the previous package.
