Detailed 3D model of a historic rigid airship of the World War One Era.
Zeppelin LZ 18 (Navy designation “Marineluftkreuzer L 2“) was an airship of the Imperial German Navy built in 1913: LZ 18 (L 2) - Wikipedia
It caught fire over Berlin-Johannisthal Airfield and crashed with all hands lost: Johannisthal air disaster - Wikipedia
The Zeppelin consists of two materials and several meshes: the main hull/parts, windows and the rotatable parts like the elevators and rudders. The model can be batched to use only 2 pass calls (when shadows are off)
The pivots of the rotatable objects are set and you could quickly rotate them by scripting.
Textures:
• each 2048x2048 pixels
• Materials use the Unity 5 standard shader
• Main texture, normal map, a smoothness (A), metallic (R), ambient occlusion (G) map and a secondary detail albedo/decal map for the two huge markings “L2” on the hull of the Zeppelin.
I’ve uploaded Update 1.1 – it should be online within the next days.
new in 1.1
– Added a basic helper script (C#) to make it easier to control the rotations of the propellors, the rudder and the elevator by scripting.
– Added exhaust particle FX.
Submitted the price change to the store. Hurry up, it could change anytime. (but usually should change on Monday) Actually the price will be increased to $14.99 – so it is currently 66% OFF – Step by step I want to slowly leave the usual race to the bottom which is going on on the Asset Store. If someone really needs a Zeppelin then this model is worth much more.
This is one of the most detailed airship models I’ve ever seen - on the Unity Asset Store or elsewhere! May I ask if you intend to bring some other ships to life?
In particular one of the 1920s zeppelins like the Bodensee or Nordstern or Graf Zeppelin, which were arguably the highest watermark in airship technology.
