[RELEASED] Racing Display

Racing Display Add-on for Unitycar 2.x

Current version: 1.01
Supported Unitycar version: 2.x
Package build with Unity 4.1. Contact me if you have problems with this matter.

!! REQUIRES UNITYCAR VEHICLE PHYSICS PACKAGE FOR THIS FEATURE TO WORK !!

Note that you can use this asset with older Unitycar versions also but that requires script modifying.

This package adds Motec-like racing display for your vehicles. At the moment it uses values from Unitycar Vehicle physics (http://unitypackages.net/).

This version includes two different type of displays, RD-01 and RD-02. Displays have working speed, gear, rpm and rev displays. Also working rpm led’s are there.
Basically you can move all the elements around to arrange them to wanted position.

There is a lap timer script that is a placeholder(!). So the lap timer’s doesn’t display any other information at the moment.
This is placed here so you can replace it with your own scripts. Hopefully in near future we can add feature to have working timer scripts.

This asset is going to be updated in near future with more content which might include few more display designs, analog and digital gauges, information leds and stuff like that.
Also feedback and suggestions are welcome.

Follow the _notes.txt to set the displays!

I can offer support freely and I can usually reply to anything asap. I’m usually around here every day.
So please if you find some problems or have hard time to get it working let me know.
Contacts can be found inside the package (_notes.txt) or PM me here.

Future updates comes free.

Video about importing Racing Display to Unitycar scene:

Will this ever be on the asset store? If so will buy immediately. Don’t know if you could make an animation package. Where there is a steering with hands that shifts. One for shifting paddle shifters and one for a more traditional shift. Wearing racing gloves would be best for me. I would buy both for 20 a piece.

This should be on Asset Store also when it gets reviewed and accepted. Price will be few bucks more ($20) than in my own shop. But sure you can wait for the asset store package.

Yes some sort of animation package might be possible yes but not sure how easy it would be for the user to set it up in the end. I will think about it…

I bought this most excellent package for my vBuggy game, and it works great! Got it integrated in no time, very easy to modify the labels on the display for your needs. Did exactly what I needed, great buy!

Here’s a few shots:

Thanks Metakid!

Can’t wait to see more about your project. That surely looks interesting!

I just released a VR demo of vBuggy on the Oculus forums for anyone interested: https://developer.oculusvr.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=1728

Might do a normal camera version soon, but the game needs a bit more work before it’s that much fun on normal screens (more camera modes mainly!)

I bought this very good package and, this is really good and easy to work, also, the shader that comes with the package can be used for a lot of another things (like energy bars and etc). This is a very good package and I really recommend to all of you that are creating a racing game like me.

Cheers emergki. And yes that shader is actually usable for many purposes. I got it use in my World of Ramps project as an damage bar.
