That’s right folks, we’ve turned an old user request into a reality: RageSuite includes RageSpline, RageTools and RageTools Pro in a single, convenient package with all its latest versions. You get RageSuite directly from our servers, meaning no downtime waiting for the Asset Store to properly update the packages when a new version is released, plus access to our private FTP server where you’ll be able to access beta versions and exclusive bonuses and packages.
For the record, more components will be added to RageSuite which won’t be part of the standalone products, just as a teaser we have an SWF importer (to real vectors instead of rasterizing them) and animation tracker under works. These will be sold separately but will be included in the RageSuite package with no additional cost.
And as a special release bonus, you can purchase RageSuite for only $99 until January 21st, that’s a greater than 50% discount on the price of buying the packages separately! Last but not least, if you still don’t know what this massive package is capable of, check out our new video, showcasing some of the newest product features plus the basic workflow used for fast character setup, rigging and animation:
I was expecting the question Helio In fact we will provide a soft migration system for RageTools Pro (and current private FTP) users, through bonus tickets to our store system. This way you’ll only pay $10 to get the full blown, future-proof RageSuite package. Just as a point of comparison, one of the next tools will cost $20, and there’ll be at least two of them added to RageSuite. More info on that one soon.
It’s also worth mentioning that the Private FTP currently used by RageTools Pro users will be maintained for some time, but it’s not the same which is being offered to RageSuite users.
Thanks for the kind words Lars We’ve tried to get points moving along the Z axis in the past but that’s a hugely involved change that really doesn’t match the current code base. That said, it’s something we do consider for a future release, but nothing on the roadmap yet.
I will, just gotta grab the list of all RageTools Pro users directly from the Asset Store which usually takes some days (it’s done manually). Thanks for the support guys, highly appreciated
First RageSuite update (1.0.1) now live, with updated RageSpline (1.5.4) and RageTools Pro (1.0.4.2). RageSuite users always get the newest versions first, of course - the new beta version of RageTools also up on the RageSuite private FTP!
Changelog:
Users wanting to update their RageSpline + RageTools + RageTools Pro packages to RageSuite please send an e-mail to contact@freakow.com with the proof of purchase of all three packages, write in the subject “RageSuite $10 Upgrade”. We’ll respond the e-mail with the paypal payment info which, once processed, will give you access to the product download and private FTP data.
PS.: The $10 promotion is only valid until Jan 21st. After that other promos will probably show up, but it won’t ever be as cheap If you have RageSpline and want to upgrade to RageSuite sit tight, we’ll have a nice offer for you next month!
Hi Will. I’d wait a bit, the RageSpline → RageSuite promo price will be cheaper than buying RageTools Pro full price.
So, we’ve decided to give the promo a half-day extension, you’ve got a few hours left to enjoy the number-only true vector art solution for Unity for only $99! It only goes up to late afternoon (BRST or brazilian summer time) so enjoy it while it lasts.
To celebrate the end of a remarkable and very successful promotion, I’ve just uploaded our latest tutorial, showing how to convert a regular, resolution-fixed bitmap art to a resolution-adaptive hybrid bitmap and vector mode, using RageSuite, Inkscape and Unity Free.
And if you still doubt RageSprite vector sprites can perform well on mobile - go see it for yourself! If you have an Android device you can test our Android build showcasing many ragesprites animated at once, with a moving background etc. APK download link
Huge thanks to everyone that believed on our work, you guys rock! Expect even bigger and better things from now on
MaDDoX, can’t wait for your upgrade offer from RageSpline to RageSuite (be quick! :))
Question: Is the iOS performance of RageSuite features ok? That is all the suite tools plus Physics… I remember there was a comment/review of Rage Spline mentioning that using RefreshMesh() had a too big impact on iOS but this was in the middle of 2012. Things may have changed/improved since then.
It looks like you can develop a whole simple game using mostly RageSuite, so if its performance is good on iOS it would be excellent. (maybe compared to other solutions for 2d or fake 2d (3d) solutions like simple flat camera on 3d scrolling elements or something like 2DToolkit.
Also: is RageSuite a fast/nice enough option for Front End menu/s and in game GUI?
In full honesty, RefreshMesh is slow and the latest Unity upgrades didn’t improve it, but our internal updates did. Anyways, for mobile development the trick is mostly to not use it. We’ve made big improvements on that front by adding intelligent features to RageGroup, Edgetune and RageCamera. RageGroup is the guy that, at the end of the pipeline, takes all refreshmesh calls from all dynamic RageSuite components. It now schedules those calls and progressively issue them, at a max fixed amount of shapes per update - the ‘step’ setting. RageCamera works as a “global hub” for all components in the scene, and presents a change percentage setting that is checked by all edgetune components in the scene. This way minor shape size changes aren’t taken into account, improving performance dramatically.
In full honesty none of that can match the huge performance of not-using-refreshmesh, and that’s why we’re focused on our next big feature - RageSpline cache mode. Basically your vector density and anti-aliasing values will be generated in editor time and stored in memory, and once RageSpline takes a refreshmesh call it will simply replace the mesh displayed instead of re-calculating it. With this mode implemented at the lowest level, all RageSuite components will get unimaginable performance boosts, and will vastly exceed the performance of any vector rendering solution in the market. This change is huge and will be made on waves, the last component which will be enhanced by this new mode will be RageMagnet - but it will be, in a big way.
If it sounds too good to be true, just wait and see, we’ve still got a way to go yet first tests are nothing short of amazing
If you don’t use RageMagnet and use edgetune sparringly (with only with the ‘start’ option enabled) the performance on mobile is excellent. Your only concern then is the amount of simultaneous triangles, I recommend keeping it under 40k for 3GS and 80k for iPad2 and most other modern generation tablets / smartphones. Smartly mixing texturing bitmaps and sharp vectors, as shown in the tutorial, is perfect for that, without sacrificing graphical complexity / detailing.
For simpler GUIs (which’s what most game uses) it’s really competent and fast to use since you don’t have to go back to your graphics editing application to adjust your art. I have some users using it in place of NGUI with excellent results. Next version of RageButton will support multiple cameras and CanvasAlign will be upgraded to work with perspective cameras as well, making it a even better for GUI usages.
Thanks for the questions, I’m sure it’ll answer those for many others
Well looking at the price of RT Pro ($80), and the suite deal ($99) it was only a coupla bucks more anyway so I just bought the Suite - I didn’t want to miss out on the deal since I didn’t see any response from you on my questions beforehand…
If you guys care to refund me whatever later - that’s fine also.
Once again I already had RageSpline and RageTools, but wanted to get the advantages of the suite instead of just buying plain RT Pro.
No problem WillBell, as soon as the RageSpline → RageSuite promo starts I’ll issue a refund of the difference in price of what you’ve paid. Thanks a lot for your purchase and sorry for not replying earlier, those has been really hectic days as I’ve struggled with promo material, demos, bug fixing, support e-mails and tutorial videos all at once.
Thanks ProjectOne and everyone who has supported the promotion, which has just ended. It was a huge success, far surpassing our expectations. We’re flattered and will make up for you guys’ deposit of confidence, making sure RageSuite keeps its edge as the best, most complete 2D suite for Unity.
For whoever missed the promo, RageSuite costs $150, saving you $55 from the price of buying all packages separately - still quite a deal!
Right now I’m processing the info of the $10 RageTools Pro → RageSuite special promo, whoever ordered/orders it until today (22/1/2013) is eligible and should receive an e-mail in the next few hours.
I was wondering how can I get a trial or something similar of the rage Suite plugin, in order to check if it fits my needs in terms of optimization ( performance/sprites, images, etc… ) before actually buying it.
