xARM is now released. More info.
Annoyed by re- and rechecking how your game looks with different aspect ratios and resolutions?
Ever switched to another aspect or resolution and everything messed up?
For me its two times “yes”.
I think the mass of different aspect and resolution combinations (especially for mobile) is one of the top problems while developing.
There are great tools (like NGUI) for placing the GUI accordingly, but the GameView only shows one aspect with a resolution which hardly matches a target device’s resolution. So seeing the result is still difficult (even more when using SD/HD atlases…).
But not only for GUI, also while positioning or animating a camera it is important to check what is or isn’t visible with different aspect ratios.
Weren’t it good to see all aspect ratios and resolutions at a glance?
I’m a IndieDev also struggling with these problems and I couldn’t find a tool in the asset store dealing with them.
So I spend the last weeks on building a tool to not only help us to manage some of the Problems but to master (hopefully) all of them.
That’s why I called it the “xARM Aspect and Resolution Master”.
Main xARM features:
- see your game in all the aspect ratios and resolutions of all of your target devices
- see in editor how your game really looks
- see everything in one view
- save time by seeing issues instantly while editing
- no manual switching between aspect ratios anymore
- no guessing how it will look with a different resolution anymore
- supports Unity Free
- …
