removing assets from store

What is the procedure to remove assets from the store if you do not wish to provide it any longer ?

thats a good question !

Hopefully you can’t, cause you sold it to users and they are entitled to redownload it later

Writing a mail to caitlyn or anybody else who’s responsible for the asset store would probably be a good start.

@dreamora
As far as i know, they keep the files so people can redownload it, but nobody can buy a new copy if it’s getting removed (obviously not, if legal issues are the reason for a removal)

What you are asking in my opinion is not ethical, and very tricky business.

it may not sound ethical, but a lot of companies do it everyday, they stop offering their products without any compensation or even notice to their previous costumers, from small to big name companies do that

high paying costumers one day and a month after the company changes its mind and discontinues the product, revokes licenses , or the company gets shut down entirely

the costumers have rights,if you want to have some considerations to your previous costumers its fine, but i also think that authors also have the right to stop offering his/her product when its deemed appropriate

yes
but you agree to ToS when you join the store and you have to comply to them, that simple it is, independent of your personal needs.

you can stop selling it yeah thats one thing, but its a different to to stop offering it at all for download as unity “hides” the files thus its not common to expect that they backed it up

I think that it is very reasonable to stop selling a product, for example if you are dropping support for it and would prefer to not sell it anymore - of course, people who have previously downloaded it should always have access to the product. (Of course, stopping sales for legal reasons is a different matter). From what the OP posted, they could be intending to only do just that, or trying to remove the product and revoke licenses (which I agree that most of the time is unethical).

Hi Xyber,

Just email us at assetstore@unity3d.com and we’ll help. Also, feel free to contact us at that email address if you see any intellectual property violations.

Cheers!

Caitlyn

I did send an email to that address about 3 days ago but only received an automated reply so far. I’ve just checked the admin page and the pack is set to “disabled” so I guess it is done.
Thanks.
