As most of you know, there will be a Unity magazine coming soon. It was called Unity3D Magazine, but that was only our temporary name for it, kind of dry and boring, and now we are planning to rename it, and we were wondering if you guys have any suggestions. How about these ones:
Meh, CommUnity is relevant here on the Unity Community, but is it relevant as a magazine title?
I’ll give you some reasons Unity Power is a better title.
Nintendo Power is known by anybody who knows jack about video games, so it’s established. They recently stopped printing. Naming a video game magazine with Power in the title would make people feel that this is the transcendence of the game industry. Nintendo Power goes away, Unity Power emerges. It sends a message.
Most serious magazine subscribing indie devs are old enough to have a fondness of the classic Nintendo days. Unity Power is your title. No need to credit me, I just pointed it out.
I do like the title unity Power, and I agree with Khyrid on most points, but the first thing that I though of when reading that title was not “It’s a new evolution of Nintendo Power, but for unity for Unity,” but “Its name is a ripoff of Nintendo Power.”
Yeah I think people may think of it as a bit of a rip-off, but anything that get’s a magazine attention is good. I guess the question is who is the target audience. If the magazine is going for people on the fence about game design that may not be users of Unity, they could feel the name is a cheap knockoff and not bother with it. If the target is people who like Unity already, they are going to be interested in the magazine regardless, and the name will earn respect with time.
