When apple controller support arrives, it would be a particularly nice touch to have it just work with Unity Input being it’s going to be the most-requested plugin feature, and a nice feather in unity’s cap to just support it, and yet another reason to upgrade to unity 4.
It’s all over the net. You can find it also in the ios developer section. Basically, it wasn’t a joke or a myth that apple were designing a controller. They’ve designed it, specified exactly what it will be and came up with a bunch of rules for devs. The only thing they won’t do is manufacture it. Logitech has early versions now.
The official controller comes in two flavours: a remote wireless version and a case version you slot the iphone into. The buttons and layout will always be identical as will the api for all manufacturers that will be making them.
A crappy attempt may do more harm than good in the long run. Apple should be doing at least one of these things themselves, designed in house and in a form factor that can be easily left on 24/7, then let others carry on from there.
Let others do junk like that and support wont do any good, players will come to inherently hate them and dismiss future attempts on sight.
I think they look pretty good, and would happily make games to use that. Really, it’s a rear touch screen away from giving you everything a PS Vita does… and the rear touch screen isn’t the exciting part of a Vita.
