[Request] Beam Gun Effect

hi guys,

for our little RPG-Community, i develop a little tool for Weapontests.
So, i want to create a laser/beam cannon effect like in Freespace2 (if someone does now)… here a video

If someone can give me a tip/hint or an asset/prefab i would be happy.
My Problem is, that i have not enough experience in using particle-systems or line-renders to solute it.

Any help would be awesome.

the angry bots demo contains a nice laser pointer effect albeit it is not similar to your example i’m sure it can be tweaked in that direction with adjustment of the parameters.
imo the effect/technique is less important but the textures/particles make it looking good or not. and in your example lots of immersion is added by the sound.

and this problem will always remain if you are not willing to put your nose in the dirt (docs, tutorials, books, examples, wiki, forum etc). you learn nothing from a ready made solution but you learn alot from your own efforts and this knowledge can be applied elsewhere and is not wasted.
so if you have no experience and this is a problem for you simply get some.

it’s not that i don’t want to read tutorials or else. i didn’t want a complete solution for my challange.
But i did’nt find tutorials which make those effects or single effects which i could put together.

So, again, any tips, examples, tuts are realy welcome.

With the Lightning Examples, i got my own Beam-Effect. With Scaling and 2 more Particle-Effects, i got a solution.
