retargeting doesnt work properly

in the project attached. I tried to retarget the jump animation from this model that i downloaded from asset store called red samurai, to another model that i downloaded which is called carl inside the maleCharacterPack in the unity project. after a couple of hours i finally succeeded! but for some reason when i play the scene the “carl” character’s legs are crossed. what i mean is that his left leg is placed slightly to the right of the centere of the body and vice versa for the other leg. whereas it works fine with the red samurai character. what am i doing wrong?
i think the following screenshots make what i say more clear:

This is probably due to a bad avatar T- pose.

Take a look at this blog post and more precisely to the T-Stance section

Make sure that both avatar have a good T-stance.

yes thanks Mechaim.Dev! in samurai avatar’s T-pose, the upper legs has a slight angle to the y-axis, whereas in carl’s T-pose his upperlegs are parallel to the y-axis. so i changed carl’s avatar’s upper leg rotation to that of samurai’s and it worked.
here is a link to the fixed project in case anybody else wants to check it out.
