Retina display for 2D

Hi,

A publisher that will publish a future title of mine asked me to make this game Retina-ready. This is a 2D game, so I’ll have to duplicate all textures. Then I can check the screen’s resolution and open the correct set of texture-atlasses (and set their coordinates accordingly).

But can I even start Unity 1.7 in retina display mode? Or do I need to upgrade to Unity 3 to achieve this?

I’m not sure I’d want to do that (upgrading) at this point because I have a number of titles in production, and using a beta version might not be ideal.

Thanks!

There are some modifications that allow unity iphone 1.7 to use it too but to be on the save side for longer term compatibility and features, I would recommend to move over to Unity iPhone 3 if it is something new or something you intend to support in the future.

Thanks Dreamora.

One more question. I will be double-sizing all my textures and then dynamically replace the material’s textures on iPhone4. But one of the textures is currenly 1024x1024. Can Unity 3 load 2048x2048 textures (on devices that support them)?

Thanks!
