Unity has always run for me just fine on any of the windows tablets. I even tried it on the dell venue 8 pro, which was one of the first full windows tablets and it ran just fine even with half the RAM and a worse CPU and GPU. These are by no means that good of an experience for the editor for a dev machine, but if you are in a pinch or travelling they will work. The biggest thing is the ssd storage, windows takes up a lot of space and then between Unity, your project, a modelling application, etc. 64 gb is not that much. For performance, you definitely want to stay within the ssd though because if you have to supplement with an sd card IO will get real slow. A wireless mouse/keyboard are almost mandatory as the touch interface works poorly with any interface with as small of buttons as the Unity editor. Also, don’t expect great things from a low end cpu and a low end integrated intel graphics GPU obviously.
greggtwep16 thanks for talk about your experience with this kind of tablets (dell venue 8 pro) with Unity
I’m looking for a windows tablet for travelling with a good price and lightweight.
Yes 64Gb maybe is few space but by 350$ I think that I can’t demand more (but how you said SD cards are slow), the keyboard + mouse are mandatory because the Stylus for Unity…
I think that if is able to move this kind of games, the tablet must be capable of move Unity without any problem ¿no?
Yeah, like I said it will run fine (not stellar but just fine). The form factor being so small and juggling things around to fit inside 64gb will get in the way a bit but it will work. If you want super lightweight tablet for traveling for light use of the unity editor it’ll be great. If however, you wanted to spend a lot of time typing away or spend many hours in it obviously it’s not ideal and a laptop would be preferable (but obviously those are bulkier when traveling or if you go super lightweight they are much more expensive).
