Ridiculous things asked by others

I thought i would share some of the messages i’ve got during my years of developing my game, and if you have any, share them with us too :stuck_out_tongue:

All of these were asked directly to me, through Facebook, Youtube and E-mail.

NOTE: None of the following were edited:

Even though i’ve been developing my game for 3 years, during my free time, from the ground up, some people seem to think that i would just throw everything out the window and join other teams with no experience and no work done… ( I get maybe 2-5 messages per month asking me to join a team )

I would go on and on with many more of these messages, but i don’t think it would ever end.
I know i shouldn’t bash anyone for not knowing how to do something game development related, but some of these messages… seriously…

Have you ever gotten any of these types of messages? If so, share them with us.

PS: If you want to see more, just tell me and i’ll search the e-mail vault a little more :stuck_out_tongue:

And can you add a download link for your whole project?

The worst are the people that want to create a massive game ‘like battlefield 3 or 4’ (I mean what were Dice thinking, you dont need a team of 500 professionals, just one 14 year old with unity), but then expect someone else to do all the hard work on it, especially when they say they’re the ideas guy. I was a little like that way back when, although I like to think I was a bit more reasonable

The scary thing is a good chunk of those probably weren’t sent in by twelve year olds.

Some of these are quite reasonable to a certain extent, like that last one, apart from the reload animation asking how to make bullet spread, while a little annoying because he could just google it, its not that bad

These are clearly the best… who wouldn’t want a pirate copy of unity with an included virus factory?

What this tells me is that there is a market out there for some software that lets people make games really fast.

I guess that’s why Minecraft is so popular. As it kind of lets people create their own environments.

It seems what a lot of people want to do is have a pre-built FPS and then be able to skin it with some simple tools.

I think whoever makes such a game/tool will make a hella lot of money!

I don’t think it would be that hard to do. It should have:

  • Randomly generated terrain or city based on some variables
  • Be able to position AI enemies and trigger points
  • Be able to save your game to the cloud for others to play
  • Be able to paint and customise characters

Thanks for all that market research you posted. Now I will make this software which will be very successful and make me a millionaire.

I see this one way to often in the comments section of Unity games. Like porting your whole project to a new engine is simple.

-_-

What? How did you quote me saying something I didn’t say?

Digging through my inbox I found this:

Apparently the guy wanted me to make him a free model and also claim it as his work, hehe.

Hahaha, I confess I was like that at first. I couldn’t bear making a game that wasn’t functional to a molecular level. Thing is you dont really associate project size with work hours, it’s harder to measure than it seems… one can inadvertently start a project that requires 15 years to finish, not realizing gamers like gta5, skyrim, assassins creed, takes 2 or 3 years by professional teams of 100s of people.

Magic.

It was an accident. I copied that sentence from the first post but hit reply on your reply.

I wonder how many serious requests you got in 3 years.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but this tool has existed for some time now (about as long as Unity has been around). It is called FPS Creator.

One of the dumbest things I’ve seen was on Steam Greenlight, someone commented and said they voted my game down because I had a ‘Facebook’ icon on my game’s main menu.

Well there you go @eskovas just put a link to FPS Creator on your facebook page. Maybe you can even earn a bit of money through referrals or ads.

Haha just had a look at the video for FPS Creator. Seriously? I think there’s still a gap in the market for something better. IDK, maybe the people on his Facebook page would like it though.

I’m seeing a lot more often the request of the project files.

I see potential in this thread.

Anyway, while I laughed a lot reading this thread, there’s lot more of this in Collab forum.

dont be a sellout man… no-one likes a sellout
