Hi, I am currently making an experience of a realistic rollercoaster in unity for the oculus rift. I am currently in the modelling phase of this, (and will be for quite a while). I’d like to know what people think about this as additional input and advice would be brilliant.
Here is the work I have done with the train for the ride so far.
Hate to bump but.
Its been a week or two since I have posted anything about this. So just to touch base, all of the track and animation for the layout has been finished. Its not perfect, but its damn good for what it is and what I have been doing.
Next I need to theme this whole ride and pimp it out with some ice and firey theming. If you have any ideas at all post them, and Ill see if I get them into the ride.
Those over the head harnesses look far too thin. And if you’re going for realistic like you said. I don’t think rollercoasters move the seats like that, I’m not an expert though, so could be wrong?
I used an animation system in maya using set driven keys to move all the pieces around there is about 5 different attributes for it.
In terms of the car design, the movement isnt realistic, but its built to be part of the ride, In real life this could technically be done, but there is no ride as of yet that does this. The closest you will get is the robotic arms rides such as the harry potter ride at universal.
The harness was too thin I agree, and I will see if I can redesign it at a later date, as the car is not my focus at the moment.
