Rigged character and gun animation

Hello

I finally got my main character too my game. Im learning how to rig him, so i can make walk animations and so on.
My question is.

If u have a rigged body, and make the fingers hold a realistic way around a gun so it looks good, and then add gun movement, will the hands follow the gun or will they glide trough each other?

anyone?

If you use inverse kinematics, quite possible to do what you wish. Split your animations into lower and upper body to make it easier to process specific parts.
