# Rigid body tilts to one side

For some reason, my car (the rigidbody) tilts/leans to one side. I have no scripts attached (except one, which is commented out), and the default rigidbody on the car. The wheels each have a wheel collider, which I haven’t altered either.

Here’s a screenshot of it (for some reason the ground did show up in the scene view in the screenshot):

Is this the one I helped you with? if you looked top down view into it you wouldve seen it wasnt symetrical, there was a plane or something inside that was to one side. My guess is that the vertices effect where the centre of gravity is positioned so it was positioned to one side. You might be able to tweak that. The thing is if your vehicle is not scientically symetrical to a NASA standard, your going to have trouble where physics are concerned.

That speel is entirely my opinion based on observations of my own work, so if anyone knows better, I’d like to stand corrected.

Really? I just looked and I can’t find the plane. It looks entirely symmetrical to me :/… Maybe it’s just me.

Btw, yeah this is the one you help me with

here I just had a fiddle with Cheetahs symetry tool and came up with this, see if its any better.

Thanks a load Targos! Runs great

I wish I was as good a modeler as you (I think I’ve seen your other work at least, if I’m not confusing it with other people :p)!

Yet again, the mighty Cheetah rises from the underground and single handedly crushes the Maya superpower. Do not underestimate this app, my friends.

If you wouldn’t mind explaining, how did you switch the coordinate system, and then delete half of the model, and reproduce a symmetrical side?

Sure.
1.Firstly, the model was built to one side of the origion, so I manually moved it to the centre. Then perfom a function called burn transform, similar to maya’s freeze transform.
2. It was made up of about 15 objects, which is overkill, so I moved the wheels out of the hieracy, parented all other bits to the car body, then in cheetah you double click the parent geometry and it combines all the pieces. I dont fully understand this step-I think some parts actually dissappeared when I did this, but I dont fully understand everything about this step yet.
3. then select half the faces and delete them.
4. Add a symmetry modifier tag to the remaining half a car, which duplicates it creating a whole car. Then double click the parent again, which makes the two halves into one whole. parent the “wheel” or wheels,
5.save as .jas(native cheetah file).

Its worth noting that Maya is a powerful beast, but is overpriced and thirsty on a computers resources, whereas cheetah runs faster, smoother, more stable and runs more seamlessly with Unity. Given the current road map for cheetah, I think it is a much better application to use with unity. It will soon support texture baking(lightmapping), multiple UV sets and who knows what else.

Anyway enough evangelising for one day, I hope thats useful.

Oh yeah, you can also open around twice as many file formats with cheetah, LWO, 3DS etc.

You shouldn’t double click on the object. I think that you should go to Tools >> Import Children, then delete the children, and that should combine them properly.

Cheers Daniel, thats good to know…

havent seen you on the cheetah forum yet?
