Rip thq

Unlike the post about the zombie Atari who never seams to die its sadly curtains for THQ its been split and its studios and IP sold off check out here I’m sad about this as a lot of games and recent games at that I really enjoyed…so the chance of a beyond good and evil 2 is not looking good :frowning:

Talk about the closure here or reminisce about past THQ games you enjoyed.

Nothing beat DoW : Dark Crusade

RIP THQ

+1, Their best title.

I considered buying DarkSiders 2 but then thought, no, I won’t do that… On a positive note I did buy the humble bundle, but am yet to play any of the games.

Destroy all humans was pretty fun too

Destroy all humans was the best.

1 and 2 were good, the rest… Meh

That news made me very, very sad.
This, plus the one about Greg Zeschuk doing beer videos.
EA being removed from Nasdaq-100
Nexon becoming the largest shareholder of NCSoft, therefore ArenaNet.
etc, etc …

The giant industry has been murdered, for me, starting a few years ago.

I still own Destroy All Humans 2 for my PS2. One of my favourite games.

I was really looking forward for Darksiders 3 RIP THQ. Speaking of which what happened to the Darksiders IP and Vigil?

One of my favourite games from THQ was Full Spectrum Warrior… I have and still play it to this day… and I loved their WWF No Mercy and wrestling games… I almost wanted to make a wrestling game…

Actually I would have thought the chances might have just increased, depending upon who managed to buy the rights to the IP. I thought I read that Double Fine were taking an interest, in which case a company like them could be a good match for a product such as Beyond good and Evil.

Still its a shame to see THQ go.

What about saints row?

I heard about this, sad times. :frowning: Hope everyone lands on their feet.

Saints Row (and its developer, Volition) were bought by Koch Media, a german company that also owns (or possibly founded) Deep Silver (the creators of Dead Island, amongst other less well known titles).

No word (AFAIK) about what they plan on doing with the developer or the IP. I’m hoping they leave it right where it is and let Volition do its job.

The closure of Paragon Studios and shutdown of City of Heroes… that one still makes no sense, they were profitable!!! I loved City of Heroes… :frowning:

So far it has not been picked up by anyone. They still looking for interested parties to aquire some properites.

Aquired by the makers of Dead Island (a sandbox game so at least they have experience in that field.) Think they said they have plans for SR4.

Heh, I just just so happened to of bought and finished Red Faction:Guerrilla out of pure coincidence.

Best $6 dollars I ever spent. A smooth 30 hours with no drag, true sandbox feel, good challenge, lots of weapons to get and upgrade, chaotic moments of sheer destructive joy, minimalist’s story, interesting missions. The game was a thousand kinds of awesome.

Figured I post a tiny memorial to the company: (disclaimer, i know how to do math, they did not make video games throughout their entire existence)

THQ
1989 - 2013
Here is for 22 games of video game development history.

(Peter Pan The Pirates, first game by T*HQ, January 1991)

Red Faction - one of my most favourite shooters. RIP THQ.
