Hey guys - thanks for all the feedback on these tools over the past few months.
If this is the first time you’ve seen the tools - they are public versions of the tools we are using in our in-production game, Dawn of the Tyrant. They are free to use, commercially and non-commercially. The tools themselves work in Unity Indie, but the included river shader is Pro only. The River Tool can be used to procedurally carve the terrain and create a river mesh using a simple point and click interface. The Road/Path tool can be used to create procedural road meshes, as well as textured paths for your terrain using a similar point and click interface. You can read more about them on our website.
I decided to patch up a few areas to make them a little easier to use. No major functionality changes yet - when our team starts to use these more in production, you can expect larger updates but for now I’ll just be patching up some annoying aspects of the initial release. Error handling has been added for a few common errors, so you have a better idea of what went wrong when it fails to work. Also now you can create roads and rivers anywhere on your terrain, regardless of the terrain’s position (doesn’t have to be at (0,0,0) anymore). A few other small things here and there - let me know if you find any bugs or have any suggestions.

The update will also be available from the Asset Store very soon - keep an eye on the version number to be sure.
Thanks and happy developing ![]()
