Robo Rehab Web Demo - a ReTech production ( WIP ) alphaness

*Story:
Robo Rehab is a comedic sci-fi adventure video game where the player assumes the role of a hapless derelict “bot” with a taste for the “high life”. Scooped off the streets by a well meaning friend in a selfless act of intervention, I. R. A. Bot, finds himself an unwilling “client” of a ReTech Rehab facility.

Far from being a posh country club for cross-addicted glitterati, this “clinic”, overseen by noted ReTech scientist Dr. Evollve, seems little more than a rundown prison.

While trying to escape the clutches of overzealous attendants and security drones run amok, the player begins to unravel a sinister plot behind the facilities “tough love” facade. Corporate greed, secret political agendas and societal prejudices are all exposed as the story unfolds.

More a proof of concept for an old pen and paper adventure I penned (punny) in university, but who knows I may finish it.

Please feel free to lambaste, flame and deride

Web Demo
Reality Check: Game is a Proof of Concept (Alpha first crack at Unity) and heavily lifted from Lerpz.

*Control Notes:
1.) Standard WASD. ‘T” toggles running” Mouse buttons orbit player and mouse-steer.
2.) You can navigate just using WASD, but it is much easier to hold down either mouse button in conjunction with using WASD to mouse steer.

*NOTES about web demo:
1). The AI has been “dummied down” so that after a Player dies once the Eyebot will no longer agro.
2.) After a Player’s death - Lives, Rocket Boot energy and Health are all reset, but the Key count remains.
3.) Lightmaps are a little wonky – especially on the Cell bars.
4.) Rocket Fuel Pickups won’t give you gas; literally.
5.) You can hit “ESC” and choose reload to recharge boots, etc.

*Issues:
Minor JavaScript error may pop up if you have warnings turned on. But it isn’t a gamebreaker.
100’s of other things

Drawcalls are below 1k, but it still runs like crap on older boxes. ( like my notebook )

I PM you with a question.

Ran fine on my i7 processor machine but was choppy on my old Core2 Duo.

Some screen tearing, but that’s prolly the web player aspect of it.

Camera isn’t perfect, but few are.

I definitely noticed a few “Lerpzy” aspects

Loved some of the writing. I luled

Looks pretty slick for an alpha first attempt.

I like the writing style as well.

Webplayer is a bit choppy though, but then again I can’t play most new titles on my comp.

If you need a 2d Artist PM me and ty for the answer on Unity

Yeah, unless your system is top-notch, it seems sucky in a browser. I suppose one could use an in-game Quality Slider so that it could be playable in browser on older systems,… but that’s a project for another day, or game even.

I’ll contact ya re: artwork
