We wanted to share some development background on our new iPhone game Roc Pazzo, which should be in the app store soon. The game is powered by Unity.
This is the studio’s second Unity iPhone app, our first game has been going great, and is about to receive a massive update with a new critter type, several more skills, improved level playability and (of course) some bug fixes. You can check out Critter Ball here: http://www.awshub.com/game/critterball
The first thing we have to share is some very early concept art sketches for various game elements and sketches for the main character in the game, “Pazzo”.

Lots more development stuff coming shortly (once someone gets a chance to do some more screenshots).
Love the name and love the artwork
Lovely sketches.
Specially your props have a lot of personality and are very well designed.
Keep going!
Thanks for the comments Inkognito and macspeedee. The name comes from the spaghetti western backdrop for the game, it is a (mis)translation of “mad rock” in Italian. The game is set with a spaghetti western version of the wild west. The studio is working on some other projects set in this world (the bandit character “Pazzo” is in these as a secondary character).
Here are some more developed sketches for the character “Pazzo”, although the player does not directly control him, he is a sort of mascot for the player.

We have got some high-poly/low-poly comparisons of some of the 3D landscape elements (specifically cacti), which we will upload in the next post.
Roc Pazzo is close to being released in the itunes app store, in the meantime we’ve got some images depicting more 3D game asset developments.

More artwork and in game developments to be posted soon, as well as the Roc Pazzo game trailer.
I like the art direction you’ve taken, particularly with the characters. Will be nice to see some gameplay footage
Was the italian translation of Pazzo = Crazy intentional? It seems to fit.
The name evolved out of the game setting and the core gameplay concept. The working title for the game was originally “Mad Rock Memory” but it was too generic. Considering the spaghetti western backdrop to the whole world, roc pazzo (crazy rock) seemed a perfect choice. As we worked on the sketches it also seem to fit as the name for the main character, he was originally just called Bandito - once again that was a bit too generic.
In the Roc Pazzo game, the characters are toon styled, but the actual game is 3D realised in a slightly hyper-real texture style that we think translates well onto the mobile platform.
We are uploading the game teaser video early next week. There will be gameplay footage in that. Hope you enjoy it.
We have finally finished and uploaded our game trailer for our new game Roc Pazzo.
